• Liquid nitrogen continuous level gauge

Liquid nitrogen continuous level gauge LEVMET NL4-02 monitors the current level of liquid nitrogen flooded in the storage dewar or cryostat. The gauge displays the level with accuracy 2% when the maximum filling is 100%. The low filling level (<10%) activates the operation of the visual and acoustic alarms. The system set includes the electronic unit and the sensor block, which consists of two coaxial stainless steel thin tubes. Tubes are electrically isolated: the distance between their walls is ~0.7 mm. The electric capacity of the sensor depends on the filling level due to essential difference in the dielectric constants of liquid and gaseous nitrogen. Thus, the measurements of the sensor’s electric capacity in continuous regime allow the monitoring of the filling level. The electronic unit at the top of the sensor block transforms the capacity variation to the quantized electric signal.
