  • Nitrogen gas flow thermostat for ESR measurements
    in temperature range 85 – 473 K

EPTHERM202 is a nitrogen gas flow thermostat, which stabilizes a set-up temperature of a probe within ESR spectrometer resonator. EPTHERM202 includes the storage dewar, the gas generator with the gas flow system and the temperature controller unit. Gas generator produces the nitrogen gas flow from the storage dewar through a vacuum isolated transfer line to the sample placed within the vacuum isolated double-wall quartz ampule, which is located in the ESR spectrometer resonator. The nitrogen gas is heated in the heat exchanger of the thermostat. The gas temperature is controlled by the temperature controller unit. The carbon powder adsorption pump mounted inside the system secures the vacuum isolation of the transfer line and double wall quartz ampule.

The gas generator connected to the storage dewar forms a permanent gas flow. The resistive heater of the heat exchanger supplied by the power output of the temperature controller heats the cryogenic gas, the temperature controller tSTAT335x stabilizes the required temperature. The nitrogen gas, heated inside the heat exchanger, flows through the vacuum isolated quartz ampule to a probe. Thermocouple NiCr:Ni (chromel-alumel) monitors the temperature near the sample. The gas generator and nitrogen storage dewar are equipped by safety valve that prevents the generation of extreme pressure.
